Prominent Dignitaries Storm Omuma In Rivers State, As Chief Ndubuisi Nwankwo’s Mum Goes Home In Style

Friends and family of Former Rivers State Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources and his other siblings came from far and near to Umawaoma Umuajuloke in Omuma local government area of Rivers State to register their love and support for the Nwankwo family as their matriarch, Mrs. Mercy Nwankwo was laid to rest.

Expectedly, the burial turned out to be a grand affair given Chief Ndubuisi’s wide-reaching influence and popularity in the political circle and the social circuit that turned out in their numbers to show love to the family.

The one week burial ceremonies which took place at the residence of the matriarch started with a fasting and prayer session on Monday 20th November, Visitations on Tuesday, Widows empowerment on Wednesday, free medical outreach on Thursday, Christian wake-keeping on Friday and the funeral service with joyous hymnals and glorious testimonials about the late matriarch who many family members and acquaintances affirmed was a woman of dignity and an epitome of hard work on Saturday, 25th November 2017, climaxing with a thanksgiving Service on Sunday 26th.

The service was conducted by Ministers from the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Etche Province, after which the deceased was committed to earth in her residence amid emotional scenes. The coffin carrying the remains of the deceased was driven in a limousine and four other state-of-the-art Ambulances.

Thereafter, a carnival-like atmosphere unfolded at the reception where guests were pampered endlessly till late into the night. Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who is the leader of the All progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State led other chieftains of the party to the funeral. Represented by the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside, wife of the Minister of Transportation, Dame Judith Amaechi, a huge party delegation including, APC deputy gubernatorial candidate in the 2015 election, Hon. Asita O. Asita, State Party Chairman, Chief Davies Ikanya, State secretary, Chief Emeka Beke, Former Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Feyii George, Chief Allwell Onyesoh and a host of others.

Fondly called Senior Mother in Isreal as a result of her towering motherly role in the church, Mrs. Nwankwo was born 79 years ago into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Adiele Nwaokoshele. She was actively involved in philanthropy, women political emancipation and participation and church activities in the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Umuwaoma Umuajuloke Omuma.

Mrs. Nwankwo is survived by her husband, special senior Apostle George Nwankwo, four sons, daughters –in-law, grandchildren and many relatives.
